A memorial service for Charles Averill, a former Tulsa actor, will be 10 a.m. Dec. 23 in Ninde Woodland Memorial Chapel.

Averill, 42, an assistant vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank, died Thursday in New York City following an illness.
During the 1970s, he appeared here at Living Arts Theater, American Theater Company, Gaslight Dinner Theater, Theater
Tulsa and the "Trail of Tears" historical drama at Tsa-La-Gi.

He also was a member of repertory companies at the Lyric Theater in Oklahoma City and the San Antonio Repertory Co. in Texas.

He performed in dinner theaters in Oklahoma City and in Memphis, Knoxville and Maryville, Tenn. Averill moved to New York City in 1981, where he appeared in in off-off Broadway productions before going into banking. A Will Rogers High School graduate, Averill attended the


University of Tulsa before graduating from the University of Oklahoma in Norman with a degree in theater. He is survived by three brothe
rs, David Averill and Richard Averill, both of Tulsa, and Jim Averill of Houston.
